SJM records us$ 12 M profit in Q3, GGR market share expands

Gaming operator SJM Resorts announced on Tuesday that it posted a profit of HKD101 million in the third quarter of 2024, marking a significant turnaround compared to a loss of HKD410 million in the same period last year.

Adjusted EBITDA rose by 83.2 per cent year-on-year to HKD1.04 billion, according to the same filing to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

The improved performance was also reflected in the expansion of the company’s gross gaming revenue market share, which rose to 13.9 per cent from 12.1 per cent in the July-to-September period of 2023. The company attributed this growth to the strong performance of Grand Lisboa Palace Macau (GLP), whose market share increased to 2.6 per cent from 1.7 per cent last year.

Daisy Ho, Chairman of SJM Holdings Limited and Managing Director of SJM Resorts, S.A., expressed satisfaction with “the unfolding potential of the Grand Lisboa Palace Resort, as its ramp-up underscores the Group’s strong recovery from challenging times to renewed growth.”

Ms Ho added, “In the coming quarters, SJM will launch a series of key visitation drivers to strategically enhance our offering, including a diversified range of dining options, increased MICE capacity at Grand Lisboa Palace, and a 10 per cent expansion in hotel capacity at Grand Lisboa.”
